PBS: our experience
ccjsun (SUN E450) as the server and 15 Linux nodes (30 CPUs)
The scheduler, written in Tcl, communicates with the server and each pbs_mom to get information on jobs and nodes.
Current queues: see table
- 1 job / cpu
- Smaller the priority value, higher the priority. Negative priority (“short”) leads to jobs more than 1 job/cpu. This is for a short test of codes etc.
- first-in first-out basis
- When there is an idle CPU without a job, a new job, exceeding the max # of jobs of the queue, can be ran.
Current PBS setting has been tested since MDCJ2 (July).
CC-J will continue to use PBS.
