Proposal for a PHENIX officail work at PHENIX Computing Center in Japan (CC-J) Date: 04/ 07/ 12 (DD/MM/YY) To: the Planning and Coordination Office of CC-J Title : Higher harmonics flow measurement of charged hadrons and electrons in wide kinematic range with PHENIX VTX tracke PWG : Heavy Flavor (PHENIX official or not : official ) Liason: Name : Yasuyuki Akiba Tel/Fax : E-mail : akiba@rcf.rhic.bnl.gov Person responsible for the job submission: Name : Maki Kurosawa Tel/Fax : 631-344-2778 E-mail : kurosawa@riken.jp Purpose of the work: (5-10 lines) The collective flow is one of the key measurements to study the hot and dense matter created in heavy ion collisions.Silicon vertex tracker (VTX) was installed into the PHENIX detector in 2010 and it successfully collected approximately 5 billion events ofAu+Au collisions at 200 GeV in 2011 RHIC run. VTX can reconstruct charged particle tracks in a widerange of pseudo-rapidity (|eta|< 1.2) and almost 2 pi in phi direction. With this capability, it can measure elliptic flow v2 and higher harmonics flow (v3, v4, ...) of charged hadrons in a wide eta range. The purpose of this research is the measurement on v2 and higher harmonic flow of charged hadrons and heavy flavor electrons. Estimated CPU time required : hours (with PentiumIII 1GHz) Estimated disk space usage required : 1000GB Estimated HPSS space usage required : HPSS band width for above estimate : MB/s Target date for completion (cpu) : 31/ 03/ 14 (DD/MM/YY) (disk): 31/ 03/ 14 Technical description of the work: (5-10 lines)
