    Dear CCJ users,
    
    Now "EDT 10/26 09:40" version of 'PHENIX_NEW'-database
    is available on CCJ.
    
    And you can use it without AFS server in a way as below:
    
    1. setenv OO_FD_BOOT         /ccj/phenix/DB/objy/001026/FDB/PHENIX_NEW
           (not          ccjsun::/ccj/phenix/DB/objy/001026/FDB/PHENIX_NEW !)
    and
    2. use the /ccj/phenix/DB/objy/001026/lib/libPdbCal.so instead of
       'default' libPdbCal.so on AFS.
    
    I checked it only with crs.2 library. 
    Please use at YOUR OWN RISK about its contents for the time being.

    Dear CCJ users,
    
    Now we (CCJ-admin. group) are testing the Objectivity/DB at CCJ.
    
    I made a 'dead copy' of 'PHENIX_NEW'-database(on phoncs01)
    on CCJ, at 10/2(JST). It can be thought that it has newest 
    information because no update of the DB was announced so far.
    
    You can read the DB under the environment set by this command:
    
    setenv OO_FD_BOOT ccjsun::/ccj/phenix/DB/objy/001002/FDB/PHENIX_NEW
    
    . I have checked it using crs.2 library and it looks like working,
    but the check of the contents is not completed.
    Please use at YOUR OWN RISK for the time being.
    Please DON'T write/update the DB. Your update is NOT propagated
    to RCF/BNL. 
    
    Our update/development plan in a month is below:
    
    1. Update the DB, especially to include the
       corrected DC-geometry announced by Federica at 10/24.
       In such a case,  above old DB will be remained without any change 
       and another directory will be made to store the newest DB. 
    
    2. DB-access using NFS (not using AMS). 
       Now the DB system is supported using AMS. AMS server is running
       on ccjsun. You can check it with the command: 'oocheckams' on ccjsun.
       (If it is dead, please let me know.)
       I expect that NFS-access will be faster, more stable and 
       more secure than AFS-access on CCJ.
    
    3. Documentation about the copying method of Objy-DB and so on.

• make a database
  Users can make their own database for test same as the tutorial writeen by Matthias Messer: http://www.phenix.bnl.gov/~messer/tutorials/pdbexplained.html

  But Now(2000.06.08) there is a bug in PdbObjyApplication.cc, and you cannot create new DB as above tutorial says. This bug will be removed soon by Matthias. For the time being, there is a tips to create new DB by 'testPdb': you set the OBJY_LS_HOST to empty in place of ccjsun.riken.go.jp. i.e.
  

         setenv OBJY_LS_HOST
         

  when you run the 'testPdb'. Then you can create new DB on your FDB, maybe.
• copy a database
  Users can copy their own test objy-database on RCF to CC-J using the objy-intrinsic command: oocopyfd on RCF (and tar and scp to CC-J ) and ooinstallfd on CC-J.
  Usage of these commands can be seen by -help option. Working example from a command line is shown below.
  • oocopyfd on RCF

    	      prompt% setenv OO_FD_BOOT phnxmds01::/phenix/data02/phnxreco/objy_try_cas/PHENIX_TRY_CAS
    	      prompt% oocopyfd -fdnumber 26222  -dirpath /direct/phenix+workarea/yokkaich/objytest/copytest000601
    	      
    	      

  • transfer files in above directory to CC-J
  • ooinstallfd on CC-J

    	      prompt% /afs/rhic/oodb/pro/bin/ooinstallfd -lockserverhost ccjsun.riken.go.jp \
    	      /ccj/u/yokkaich/objy/copytest/000601-linux/copytest000601/PHENIX_TRY_CAS
    
    	      
    	      

  
  I have found that above procedure using oocopyfd is not work about PHENIX and PHENIX_TRY_CAS for the time being. I am trying to solve.(2000.08.04)
